ReplyDeleteI have been a huge fan of DotA since the beginning of time! I have also played a ton of the original savage, and love what S2 games brings to the table.
I have tried to snag beta keys from Tim Buckley, as well as several other sources who posted them enmasse. so far out of hundreds of tries, I have yet to get a beta key that someone else hadn't already taken. =-(
I am not sure what character I will play. I loved selecting random heroes in DotA's, and I am sure I will love playing every hero. I will probably settle on one or 2 I like, but until then, I prefer to learn the abilities all the heroes bring to the table. I like to know what I'm up against, and how to best help my team!
Since I haven't been able to snag a key yet, I can't comment much more, but am very eager for the opportunity to get a shot at a beta, and more importantly, post an immediate pre-order!

ReplyDeleteFor everyone out there without a key, I want to give you my impression of the game. I played two games last night, and so far my record is 1-1.
This game is very weird to play. Things are very different then dota. My map awareness and timing was way off because it is difficult to tell which hero is which. Everyone looks different, with a different name, and sometimes different animations.
For example, instead of lightning bolts, lesh has some sort of chain attack. Potm is just a girl with a spear, her kitty is gone and she is ugly are hell :(

but really. the game is ugly and the attack animations are all reworked, so there are some balance issues coming from that. Additionally there are alot of new players who have never played dota, who are suffering even worse then those of us who transferred.
furthermore, they removed sniper, and gave his ult to bh. This pisses me off.
To be honest, I would prefer a more direct port of the game, with the exact same graphics, and with more detail paid to things like attack animations.
People who disc were able to rejoin, and that is nice, however the stats option is not such a big deal. If your team is new to the game, mid and late game YOU WILL SUFFER, and so will your k-d ratio.
I am not going to rate this game until I at least learn what all of the heroes look like/their names. Will prob try to give it at least 100 games. However, my initial impression is meh. If this game kills off dota, I will never forgive them.

whoa, this is cool. you're too damn generous to give ppl beta keys. XD i really wanna have one though. the gameplay is really really sick. ive been a WC3 fan since dota version 6.08, but this is sooooooo different.
ReplyDeleteHON totally pwns dota when it comes to the graphics. and another thing, HON is, i think, better than dota cos when u DC, you can return and play again, not like WC3. lol. saw this when 2 of my friends played. sadly, they lost. XD
but what caught my attention was..well, the characters were a bit modified. XD i mean, c'mon, CM and lina are men now. rofl. but ignoring that, HON STILL PWNS DOTA. XD
i really really really really really really really really really want a key TT hope you can give me one. :D
Heya my friend, wife, and myself would love 3 keys in order to start playin and testin this awesome looking game!! We are currently playing League of Legends, however HoN's engine looks far superior and we would really like the opportunity to get in on the action..
