*NoFollow = when someone comments or adds a backlink, they won't get any link juice or Google juice from my blog.
It was a revelation to me (I know, I know, why didn't I think of that earlier?!). So, I decided to finally remove it. Well, it wasn't really an easy decision for me. I was weighing the cons and pros of removing the NoFollow tag completely. Based on my reading....
PROS:
- I can help my visitors, who are kind enough to leave a comment, get some link juice... or Google juice, as most call it. They get more links to their site and they get better ranking.
- I know it will bring more traffic to my blog since more people would be inclined to actually read my blog posts and leave a comment.
CONS:
- I have to turn on comment moderation on my blog. I kinda didn't want it on in the beginning because I don't want to moderate or accept comments to my blogs everytime. I feel like it's going to take much of my time.
- I might get more spam because of this. Thus, requiring more time for me to actually filter them out of the picture.
Sorry, I only thought of 2 things for PRO and for CON. But, those were the only ones that I really considered before making this decision to make this blog a You Comment, I Follow blog.
Now, if you check on my sidebar, I now have a badge saying that. As of this writing, my blog is officially a U Comment, I Follow blog. So, comment away!
Before I end this, let me share with you something funny that I found. While I was searching for a badge that I could use here, I found this post on U Comment I Follow parody badges. I love "U Comment Or Else" and "U Comment, I Don't". LOL
Switching to dofollow doesn't necessarily bring more content unless you list your blog in the dofollow directories that are popular.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Steve. I actually forgot to mention that part.
ReplyDeleteI'm still thinking if I should submit or not. Hmmm....
I agree with Steve, you have to list your blog to dofollow directories to drive more traffic to your blog. Although spam can't be prevented sometimes (and this is the problem of most dofollow blogs), it is advised that you should have a spam filter to avoid such thing to happen.
ReplyDeleteAbout the badges, I find the "U Comment, I Don't" badge funny. LOL!
Yep, I enabled comment moderation as soon as I made my blog doFollow. I already submitted this blog to the doFollow directories and I've been getting a lot of spam lately but I guess that's really what's gonna happen to all DoFollow blogs. :)
ReplyDeleteYou'll find that you'll get a load of drivel from people who are only commenting to get the backlink, good luck to ya
ReplyDeletei have check your blog with nodofollow addons. it say 'nofollow' how come you your blog is dofollow?
ReplyDeletebtw, i doesn't matter if you dofollow or not, if your article were good then i will leave my commnet on it..(",)
This is a DoFollow blog. Not sure what you're saying but the links are not set to NoFollow.
ReplyDeleteMy point in this article is I'd get more traffic if people know that my blog's set to DoFollow. I wasn't really referring to the quality of the traffic but just the numbers.
Nice blog. I think the dofollow attribute is a fair way to reward your readers. Glad to see you've joined the U Comment I Follow Bloggers.
ReplyDeletehi...
ReplyDeletemy blog as sama as yours... its dofollow blog :)
I have 3 blogs and I use the captcha widget. I write a blog about my life in London, travel around England, a car hire tips and even about environment issues and honestly if I would have to moderate all comments it would take me ages! so now, once a month I just have a quick look on all comments and that's it. Hope it will help you:) Best wishes!
ReplyDeleteI'd say you've pretty much hit the nail on the head when it comes to the pros and cons of having a dofollow blog. I'd say it definitely brings more exposure while at the same time encouraging some spammers to...well...spam.
ReplyDeleteThere's one pro that I think you've left out, though. The fact that you'll probably get more comments with a dofollow blog also means that you're going to be getting more regularly updated content on your pages for free. All in all, it's definitely a great trade of between the commenter and the blogger.
thanks for sharing.. dofollow blog is helpfull for newbie like me to get some link. thanks
ReplyDeleteYeah gotta love the do follow blogs! No doubt!
ReplyDeleteIts a good thing that you have change your site to do follow because it will give you and the commenter a positive effect. Because of making your blog dofollow commenter are encourage to participate well on the discussion through comments and increase your traffic. To the commenter it can get a link juice but this must not be whole purpose of commenting, participating well to the discussion must the first in mind.
ReplyDeleteAll hail the "U comment, I follow" movement!

Thanks for doing this; although, yes it'll get you more traffic, you'll probably find you're are a lot busier moderating comments.
ReplyDeleteMuch appreciated from newbies like me!
Switching to dofollow should definitely increase your traffic - whether the extra traffic is going to do you any good is debatable though. As an earlier commenter said, mostly it'll be made up of webmasters looking for links, who in some cases won't even bother reading your post. Still, I hope it works out for you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for creating such a wonderful site. this site was not only knowledgeable but also very stimulating too. We find very few people who can think to create not so easy articles that creatively. I search for articles on a subject like this. I have gone in detail through dozens of blogs to come across know how about this.Looking to many more from your site !!
ReplyDeleteIt's so funny reading the names and comments on this post. LOL.
ReplyDeleteCool thanks a lot.... it will really help the sites...
ReplyDeletethink CommentLuv is pretty cool and I like that it leaves info about your last post; however, sometimes it does not pick up my last post. It picks up an older post. I've made several posts since my Don Pablos post.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the badges, the “U Comment I Follow” Strategy is a perfect one to make your blog more interactive and to get more traffic and visibility on the net
ReplyDeleteI faced the same problem as yours, when I created my first blog using blogspot.com the comments became by default nofollow.Than i solved the problem.Dofollow really helps us .
ReplyDeleteChiropractic treatment is one of the best methods for treating numerous health problems naturally. After years of experience being a chiropractor, I have found that it is a powerful way to solve many pain conditions, like headaches, neck pain and back pain, as well as many non-pain condition as well, such as fatigue, sleep problems, and sinus problems.

I would have to moderate all comments it would take me ages! so now, once a month I just have a quick look on all comments and that's it.
ReplyDeleteit'll be made up of webmasters looking for links
ReplyDeleteMaybe we can start political party with that name.
ReplyDeleteThere are might cons in making your blog a u comment i follow blog but that's nothing compare to the joy you can give to your viewers.
ReplyDeleteThere's so many factors why these types of blogs are a good / bad idea.
ReplyDeleteMaybe we can start political party with that name.
ReplyDeleteIt's really great you allow do follow blog comments! Unfortunately for me I can't seem to find many blogs within my niche.
ReplyDeleteThis backlinking stuff is a lot of work, but also very challenging.
Good luck with your blog! Cheers!

ReplyDeleteexcellent work you posted here very useful for novice like me.
ReplyDeleteThis is my second visit to this blog. We are starting a brand new initiative in the same niche as this blog. Your blog provided us with important information to work on. You have done a admirable job.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog . Very interesting . I really like your wonderful job .
ReplyDeleteWhile allowing dofollow links in comment you increase the number of spam comments, many of these promote splogs, also I would like to advice you to disapprove all comments made by business names.
ReplyDeleteCynthia: Yep, I know which ones are spam comments. I just let them be. Comments are now on auto-approve. I got tired of moderating the comments by these spammers so I just let them post whatever they want, unless they double-post.
ReplyDeleteI might be switching to Disqus comments soon for better spam protection. For now, I manually delete double posts by these spammers and the rest, I just keep them posted. It's fun reading their robotic posts. LOL.
you really have avery nice blog,it's the first time to be here but it won't be the last untill then keep blogging..goodluck!
ReplyDeleteWhat can I say? You sure are generous for implementing dofollow on your comments and guess what, I think it's a smart move.
ReplyDeleteAs a Newbie, I am always searching online for articles that can help me in social network promotion. Thank you
