Another New Year's Resolution

25432945248405l I've completely quit smoking last year (Yayy for me!) and I know that it did affect how quickly I gained weight for the past year. Plus the fact that I've been working in call centers. So, I've finally (believe it or not) decided that this 2010, I have to lose the weight... seriously.

During our New Year's day family reunion, most of my relatives were shocked at how much weight I've gained since the last time they saw me. I was expecting that reaction from them and all I did was smile. One of my aunts told me that my face is still beautiful so I really have to seriously lose the weight so I can completely be healthy and pretty again, just like before.

I still feel pretty and I can't really deny the fact that it kind of affected my confidence. Slightly - I don't really care about what others think, but, gaining the weight only shows how negligent I have been with my health and lifestyle.

2009I hate going on diets and I don't want to take any weight loss pills anymore. I need to be more disciplined this time so I can really keep the weight off. And that means healthful food and exercise.

I might also need some body sculpting after I've lost some of the weight. There are a couple of problem areas that might not be affected by any skin-tightening exercise I try.  And while I was browsing about that, I found out about Sono Bello. They offer laser-assisted body sculpting in major cities in the US and even free consultations. Their Micro Laser Liposuction and Body Sculpting services are non-surgical procedures and virtually painless. I wonder if we have that available here in the Philippines. It's like you come in to their clinic and in a few hours, out with a new you.

  1. I had a book called Sugar Busters that placed me on a low bad-carb diet. It was pretty easy to follow and I lost 40 lbs. I'd recommend it. It's pretty healthy and you don't feel deprived. I was never able to follow any other diet, and it's the kind of thing you can stay with.

  2. Hmm... I love sweets so when I read the title of the book, I was like, "Oh no!" LOL!

    Right now, I'm on this phase of psyching myself not to eat too much. And, I'm trying to eat twice a day only. So, whenever I feel hungry in between lunch and dinner times, I focus myself on other things to stop me from thinking about eating. *Sigh*

    They say quitting smoking is hard, but, damn, losing weight is harder! Gosh.

    Thanks for the advice. I'll take a look at that book. Hope I can keep the discipline. My goal is to lose at least 15lbs before this year ends... and keep it at that.

  3. Ack. No. I don't want to be a vegan. As I said in my post, I don't really wanna go on a strict diet. And going without meat would kill me... literally. But, thanks for sharing.

  5. It's so hard to hear comments like that from friends and family. Congratulations on quitting smoking. I wish they had focused on that. It's a HUGE accomplishment and the best thing you could have done for your health. I'm sure with your strength and determination you will accomplish your goals for this year as well. All the best for 2010.

  6. @Steve: Thank you! :)

    @The Accessory Lady:
    At first, it was hard but I guess I got used to it and I don't generally care about what they think. I'm not close to anyone of them so no one really knew about me quitting smoking. I'm proud that I was able to quit smoking after years of making excuses just to continue that nasty habit. LOL.
    Thank you. I'm hoping for the best, too. Have a blessed new year. :)

  7. Everyone loves sweets. Choose sweets with natural sugar, like fruit, in place of anything with high-fructose corn syrup. Losing weight is indeed hard, and you have to be determined. The worse news is exercise helps too. Walking every day is a pretty easy start.

    It's kind of a way to live well and be healthy, which you may ultimately find more valuable than that Snickers bar. Smoking is absolutely killing yourself, and you're well rid of it. Congratuations on that.

  8. I know a lot of people already broken their resolution. The gym was packed for one week, and now it has died down already. People need to stay committed to see results! Never give up!
