Filipinos need Coupons, too!

Mai and I are in a very tight budget now. We both no longer work and will be managing our own business - an internet cafe - soon. Just last night, we had a fight about our finances here. In Cebu, we don't have to worry about anything financially because her parents are earning decently to support all of them. But, here in Manila, my mom's the only who's working to support the family. I used to work to help her financially, but since I've decided to manage our own business, I stopped giving her financial support. Anyway, my brother's already in the workforce so it's no longer a big deal.

image I remember back when I was a Team Leader in the Customer Service department of a US-based Publishing account in a call center, we receive a lot of calls every Sunday because of the freebies on the Sunday newspaper such as restaurant coupons, supermarket coupons, etc. And on the websites of some of the popular newspapers in the US, they even offer free online coupons. I really wish we'd have that here in the Philippines because that'll really help us save on groceries or when we dine out. Mai and I always make sure we avail of promos from different establishments, especially now that we're on a tight budget, so having coupons available for us to use anytime would be a great financial help. And I bet a lot of Pinoys would also find it very helpful financially if more companies offer coupons to shoppers.

Most of our expenses are from grocery shopping. Mai loves to cook recipes that she see on the Food Network or on different TV shows for the foodies that we watch like Top Chef. So, whenever we go grocery-shopping, she buys ingredients for dishes she wanted to try to cook/prepare. I love that part of grocery-shopping and coupons would definitely help us lessen our expenses from groceries.

Speaking of cooking and food, I'll be working on our food blog next month. It won't be like any other food blog. I don't want to give you the details now because it'll be a surprise. We'll be featuring a lot of food and restaurants here in Manila and in Cebu. Keep posted for updates on when it'll be up. We'll be posting recipes also that are so easy you can make them as soon as you read them. Mai tries her best to use available ingredients in the kitchen so I know you'd love it. Along with her cooking and my reviews, my brother's baking will also be featured there. He calls himself "The Microwave Chef" because he can prepare desserts in a few minutes, using only a microwave oven to cook them. I already featured his Mango Brown Betty (right image) recipe a few months ago. We'll have more of those recipes on our blog. So, stay tuned for that!

  3. I strongly agree with you. I think a lot of Pinoys will take advantage of coupons. If I had the time and resources, I would probably create a coupon page for my blog.

  4. I hope the big companies would realize that they can advertise and at the same time help consumers by offering coupons. Thanks for dropping by :)
