Ever since we moved here to Malabon, my Nanay (mom/mother in Tagalog) always wanted to have a garden of her own. She started out buying and asking neighbors for plants that she can grow at our backyard.
I'm not really familiar with the names of the flowers she has growing now, but I took some photos of them a few months ago. The only ones I'm familiar with are already fully-bloomed - red Rose and Gumamela, pictured below. We also have Chili growing there. I asked my dad to also grow Calamansi and Eggplant, so we'll have fresh vegetables when we cook.
Since the construction of our cafe is done, my mom suggested that we place a plant inside the cafe so the place will look cozy. I liked the idea, but I wanted to buy one of those large commercial planters that I saw at the garden at the market. Nothing fancy, but just something that will look good and refreshing inside the cafe to draw more customers in.
The color theme of our cafe is green, so having flowers or plants in and around the cafe suits it. Mai is eyeing for one of the outdoor commercial planters that she saw at Market! Market!. It costs a lot more than the commercial planter I wanted so we need to set that plan aside for now.
Mai and I are also planning on buying some planted herbs at Market! Market!. We want to grow our own herbs that she'll use for cooking, mainly Rosemary, Thyme and Basil. I'll post photos of them as soon as we purchase them. I'll have my dad take care of them because he's the one with the green thumb. I haven't really taken care of plants my whole life so I'm not sure if I can keep a plant alive. I don't want to risk it so I'll leave it all to my dad. Hehehe.
Here are some more photos of the flowers/plants we have right now at the backyard. I don't know what they're called so if you know the names, please leave a comment below. Thanks!
* Thank you to "BUTTERY"fly (of http://mybutteryfly.blogspot.com/) for letting me know the names of the 3 flowers pictured above: Lantana (2nd photo, 1st row) and Euphorbia (3rd & 4th photos, 2nd row). Now, I only need the name of the 1st one on the 1st row.
These are all so beautiful. I unfortunately do not know their names but you have a wonderful selection. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHello! I love your blog... I forgot the name of the flower on the first photo. It's a kind of wild flower that really grows everywhere.
ReplyDeleteThe 2nd flower is the Lantana.
The 3rd and 4th are both Euphorbia.
I love your mom! I sure love flowering plants. I have lots of them in my small garden.
New follower...Have a great day!
