Update: Make a Wish Blog Contest

I know you’re all as excited as I am to know who won in my first ever blog contest – Make a Wish. Some of you might have already read the entries, mostly those who also joined so they can size up the competition. Been there, done that! *LOL* I know some of you already have your own favorites among all the entries. And, I just want to give you an update.

Votes from my generous sponsors came in. Each sponsor was given 2 picks among the 33 entries. And, like what I’ve mentioned in the mechanics, all their picks moved on to the final judging.

There were so many great and inspiring wishes/entries that we ended up with 19 finalists. There were 3 entries that got 4 votes each from the sponsors, 2 got 3 votes, and most of the other votes went out to other entries.

I didn’t reveal which entries I liked because I wanted to also see which entries had the most impact on my sponsors. Did that affect my judgment? Of course.

After the deliberation with my friends, my brother and my partner, we narrowed it down to 13 entries for the top 10 spots. Before we ended up with that number, we had a couple of discussions first (more like “healthy” arguments actually, *LOL*). So, just imagine what happened to us when we were already ranking the entries to know which ones will make it to the Top 10. *LOL* It was fun, though.

We already picked the first prize winner. It was a unanimous decision. The rest, we had to convince each other as to why they should be in the Top 5. It was really interesting hearing my friends’ opinion of each entry. I’m just glad we were able to narrow our picks down to 10.

In the end, it was really up to me to decide which ones will win the Top 5 prizes and the 5 consolation prizes. Although I already have the list of winners, I can’t say it’s already finalized. Before I even wrote this update, I decided to change the rankings of 4 winners.

So, I have decided to announce the winners by Friday, May 28th. I wanted to make sure that the rankings are already final. I’ll let the list sit for 3 more nights before I make a formal announcement.
