To my dear readers, here's my question for this post...
What cell phone do you use and why?
I'm asking this because last week, a friend of mine was trying to sell me her iPhone because she's planning on upgrading to an iPhone 4 as soon as it's available in the Philippine market. I was a bit surprised that she even had an iPhone considering her family's financial crisis. I couldn't help but ask her why she's planning on buying an iPhone 4.
To give you a brief background about my friend (I do hope she gets to read this), she's a call center agent. Yes, she's just an AGENT. No offense to call center agents out there, but, I just wanted to point that out so I can tell you how ridiculous it is for her to buy a very expensive phone when she clearly doesn't need it.
I was a Team Leader before and I didn't need a PDA or any expensive mobile phone to get through the day. I was okay with my Nokia n76 (pictured below) to call and send text messages to my team members. I can check all my emails at work so I won't have to think of work outside the office.
But, my friend still insists on buying an iPhone 4 even after I tried to talk her out of it. She said she's been reading cell phone reviews and she fell in love with it. I asked her what she'll be needing those added features for. I just think it's not practical for her to buy an expensive phone when she doesn't need those new features. She already bought an iPhone, so why not just stick with it, right?
Her parents couldn't say anything to her about how ridiculous that purchase would be because they're just grateful to her 'cause she's the only breadwinner in their family. And that's exactly why I was trying to convince her to keep her iPhone and stick with it.
I know, with my last post, I was also saying that we should reward ourselves from time to time. But, her decision is just freaking crazy! I even told her she's just going with the latest fad and to be reasonable.
*Sigh* I now have 2 of our other friends convincing her to change her mind about the iPhone 4. Argh. Some people can be so freaking hard-headed. She usually makes really wise decisions. I don't know what has gotten into her. Sheesh.
So, if you have suggestions on how else we could convince her, leave a comment below. We've already tried the soft approach and the brutal, straightforward approach, and both didn't work. *LoL* Help?!
