Anyone who lives here in the Philippines knows Kuya Kim. He is the son of former Manila mayor Lito Atienza. But, he is popularly known as ABS-CBN's weatherman on Umagang Kay Ganda and for his TV Patrol segment "Weder-Weder Lang". He is also a co-host of my favorite morning talent show "Showtime".
I was a bit saddened by the news I heard on Twitter and Facebook – Kuya Kim had a mild stroke this morning and was rushed to the hospital. He's currently confined at the Makati Medical Center.
Now, why does this even concern me that I had to blog about him? Well, not a lot of people know that I'm actually a fan of Kuya Kim. I love how he shares trivia about nature, animals, etc., like he's not ever going to run out of it. He also seems like a genuine kind soul. Since we don't have cable at home, I get my fix of Filipino-style Discovery Channel or National Geographic trivia from Kuya Kim.
Kuya Kim has been an animal lover since he was a kid. He has this fondness for animals, especially queer/weird ones. Because of his passion towards them, he started learning more about animals, nature and science.
I'm more of a technology than a nature geek. But, I still love to get a dose of trivia about nature from time to time. I'd love to be a more outdoorsy kind of gal, but, I still prefer to stay at home, in front of my laptop. *LOL* So, I owe it to Kuya Kim for sharing his knowledge about nature 'cause he never failed to amuse me.
As of this writing, Kuya Kim is out of danger, according to news I got from Twitter. But, he's still under observation. I know he's got some kind of insurance (like a Medicare part D plan) so he's going to be well taken care of there. I just hope he gets well real soon and back to his own healthy self. The kids of today, and even adults like me, need him.
Let's all pray for Kuya Kim's quick recovery, please.
