Julien Drolon Sings “Phil So Good” for the Philippines

I don't know any Pinoy who doesn't love songs about our country, the Philippines. It's our own sense of love and pride which make us appreciate it when we hear music about our culture, our islands, our people.

The only songs about the Philippines that I've honestly listened to are the ones from APL of Black Eyed Peas. He's a Pinoy so it's no wonder he loves our country. Imagine how more awesome it'll be to hear someone of a different nationality sing about ‘Pinas.

Well, that's exactly what Julien Drolon has done with his new song, Phil So Good. I got to listen to his first single and I appreciate that he didn't just talk about the many beautiful places in the Philippines, but also how warm Pinoys are. He’s been here twice, first was in 2007 and then in 2009 when he decided to stay and start his music career.

This part right here are a few lines from his song Phil So Good that I love:

Paradise islands, white sand beach
Tropical jungles where tribes still live
Land of Rizal and the guitar strings
Gotta find some time to live it here

I am in the Philippines x 3
And I feel so good, so good

People speak tagalog, sometimes taglish
They love to have fun, they know how to live
With a warm welcome, they will make you feel
Like it is your turn to smile and sing

Julien Drolon sings about the Philippines in 'Phil So Good' - JustAnotherPixel.net

Julien Drolon is a French (ooh, I love their accent!) singer, songwriter and a former Italian reporter. His music style has a more reggae feel to it, which I love 'cause they're my perfect genre of music to listen to when you want to sit back, hang out with friends, relax and not worry about having to use Oxytokin or wrinkle treatments… just leave your problems behind and enjoy.

Julien Drolon - JustAnotherPixel.net"Phil So Good" is truly a feel-good song. I imagine myself listening to it while on the beach of Boracay or Pagudpud with friends, hanging out by the bonfire at sundown. It’s pretty catchy, too. I was surprised to hear myself singing “I’m in the Philippines” after listening to the song twice. ^_^

When Julien was asked why he started his music career here in the Philippines, he answered, "It’s a place that is blessed with amazing musicians that want to collaborate on the making of my album and Filipinos are music lovers”. I couldn't agree with him more.

Our love for videoke singing is enough proof of how much we love music. I also happen to believe we've got a ton of talented musicians. Julien, in fact, makes music with his band composed of Girlie Capulso on back up vocals, Enzo Queyquep on lead guitar, Joseph Duenas on bass, Leal Nanca on keyboard  (he also wrote and sang the rap part of Phil So Good) and Joven Palencia on drums.

Julien is collaborating with producers Jack Rufo and Angee Rozul for his debut album "Julien Drolon... Phil So Good", which will be released this May. If you want to listen to his first single, Phil So Good, you can download it exclusively from Orange Magazine TV.
