Can you believe that for 30 years, I haven't baked anything yet? Okay, it's not really something we usually do, but for someone like me who's a certified foodie, baking is something I very much would like to learn and perfect (seriously?!).
I think I've baked something back in high school, but I can barely remember what it was. Cookies, I suppose. I really want to get into baking something a little difficult - like an actual cake!
My brother is the baker or pastry "chef" in our family. I honestly envy him for having that passion and skills. Yeah, I know. It's pretty easy to learn how to cook and bake nowadays with the vast resource of recipes you can find online. But, still, baking takes a little more skill and accuracy than simple cooking. That's why even master chefs (watch Top Chef) get a li'l nervous when they hear they need to make pastries.

Now, when I say baking, it's not just about pastries. I'd also want to try baking lasagna, my own pizza, baked meat recipes, etc. I've already been doing a lot of baked chicken and beef lately, but I want to try something harder, just like those dishes I see Gordon Ramsay prepare on Hell's Kitchen and The F Word.
For me to be able to accomplish this, learning how to bake, I need to buy kitchen tools and appliances that'll aid me. We've already got measuring cups and spoons, pastry cutter, stainless mixing bowl, spatula, food processor and baking pans. But, I need more if I really want to start baking.
For instance, I want to bake my own cupcakes. I need cupcake pans for that. And, I need cake pans, too, when I decide to start baking my own chocolate fudge cake. Alright, just typing that makes me want a slice of my bro's mousse cake, pictured below.
For baked meat dishes, I need a bit expensive cookware that can withstand the oven, like products of Le Creuset. First thing I'd try is to prepare lasagna at home. Weehh. All this talk is making me really excited about this. Wish me luck!
