It'll be Mother's day in a couple of weeks (May 13th), and I wanted this year's celebration of this day to be unique for my nanay. I haven't had the chance to make her feel extra special on this holiday for moms, so I thought this 2012 should be the year where I can show her, in my own ways, how much I love her and how much I appreciate all the sacrifice she went through to raise me and my brother as decent, kind and loving adults (I know we are!).
I know my bro would agree with me that a simple gift like a new bag or even cash (how pathetic, I know, but she get to pick what she wants) would make her happy. However, we haven't gone out together to celebrate HER, not even on her last birthday ('cause she was at a seminar). It's about time we make up for all those years we didn't acknowledge Mother's Day.
My nanay's not like most mothers who find it sweet that their kids brought her flowers. Like me, she does appreciate the gesture, especially when they're as beautiful as norfolk Mother's day flowers, but she prefers something more specific to her, or something unique and personal.
Here are a few of my ideas that I know my nanay would love. I'll share here what I decided to do for her after Mother's Day:
Let her go on a shopping spree - MY TREAT!
I've been planning on doing this for years! She loves shopping and I wanted her to experience not worrying about how much she's spending. I'll take care of it! :)
Buy her one of those pricey bags she's been wanting.
My nanay is a thrift when it comes to buying clothes and accessories for herself. I guess we got that from her because we'd rather use the money for dining at a restaurant or going on trips than buying signature or expensive clothes. BUT, I didn't mean Louis Vuitton bags when I said pricey. I can't afford that yet and I'm not willing to spend that much for a bag. Seriously.
Go on a Tagaytay getaway!
We haven't been to Tagaytay for like forever! I can't remember a thing from our last trip there 'cause I was with people I'm not really thrilled to be around. Sorry, just being honest. I'm so glad that I have been given a chance and the money to take her to nice places without her worrying about the expenses. So, I'm hoping this will be my # 1 option.

So far, those are my top 3 gift ideas for Mother's day this year. I'm now looking at some online stores and vouchers from my favorite deals sites, and I'm seriously hoping I can make any of the above ideas happen. :)
How about you? What are your plans this Mother's day for your mommy dearest?
