3 Best Brunch Spots in Capitol Hill

Seattle, although often rivaling with Portland, is definitely the foodie haven of the West Coast. The international atmosphere and the bounty of the local fare has created high standards for food in Seattle, and it is hard to find a bad meal in the area. However, finding just what you want in the city isn't always easy.

Because of the hundreds of restaurants, finding something as simple as a great brunch isn't quickly done. You could spend hours perusing through the YP Mobile App trying to find a restaurant with just your style of fare. However, to ease the burden of finding a great brunch in the city, we have listed the top 3 spots to find good breakfast fare in Capitol Hill:

Kingfish Cafe

The Kingfish Cafe

Located on 602 19th Avenue, The Kingfish Cafe brunch menu may only have 5 distinct dishes, but each is exceptional and will definitely leave you struggling to determine which one you would rather have. The restaurant's specialty is a more sophisticated version of soul food, and brunch dishes such as the French Creole Eggtorte with Roasted Tomato Coulis or the Good Glory! Grits are a testament to this type of fare. However, the dish that by far stands out is the Crabcake Dewey with Herbed Hollandaise. Catfish and dungeness crab cakes topped with perfectly poached eggs makes this dish sublime breakfast fare.

Cafe PresseCafe Presse

Cafe Presse, located on 12th Avenue, specializes in French cuisine, and offers a brunch that is unlike any other you are bound to find on the Hill. Keeping in tradition with French fare, the dishes of Cafe Presse are much lighter than traditional American breakfast, and are for those simply looking for a delicate way to start their day. However, lighter definitely doesn't apply to taste. Each dish at the Cafe is minimal, but bursting with flavor, and favorites include the Croque madame and the Fromage frais aux anchois. The coffee is divine as well.

Smith

If you are interested in a heartier breakfast, head on over to Smith for an English style breakfast. Serving dishes created with quality meats and breads, as well as fine cheeses. While there has been some citywide debate on the dinner menu and atmosphere at night, the brunch menu is undeniably good. The Full English Breakfast is a classic, but the true dish to get is either the Brisket & Fried Egg Sandwich or the Foraged Mushrooms & Chevre Scramble. Regardless, the dishes will be large, and sure to leave you satisfied. Not to mention topping on off with a Bloody Mary is a must as well.

Seattle is home to great food that is focused around quality and local ingredients. It really is a food mecca, and for those looking to find a great brunch, a quick search through online can present dozens of opportunities. Don't sell yourself short by going to the same place every weekend. Pick someone new, and do so often, to experience all Seattle has to offer.
