American Idol Season 8 Final 12 PLUS 1 - Please Vote for Anoop Desai, Kris Allen, Allison, & Lil!

American Idol's Final 12 is complete. Oopps, make that Final 13. They decided to make it 13 finalists "recently" (no, Simon, you didn't sound scripted at all when you said it).

It was a bit of a surprise to find out that they made it 13 this season but, c'mon, I can name more than 1 person who shouldn't be in the finals - Jasmine Murray, for instance. I guess they wanted more than 3 people from the Wildcards to make it to the finals. But, why Jasmine?! Really. She was flat on almost every song she sang and she doesn't even have the personality of David Archuleta or Jordin Sparks (both were teen contestants who made it to the finale in the past 2 seasons)... so why bother?! I guess they wanted more teens in the finals... or Simon just adores her.

Alright, before I go crazy over those who should've been kept out of the American Idol finals, I am actually happy because most of my faves are in. Can't wait for next week!

I wasn't able to blog about American Idol and the performance nights of group 2 and 3 but I can tell you this... Group 2 had surprisingly the best performances out of all 3 groups. Most of my early faves during the auditions and Hollywood week were in Group 1 but I was quite disappointed with their performances and the results. Group 3 performance night was... err... bland, as Simon described one of the performances that night. Really.

When I started watching this season of American Idol, I had my early faves that I mentioned in my previous American Idol posts - Daniel Gokey, Michael Sarver, Anoop Desai and Taylor Vaifanua. First impressions didn't last for 3 of them and now, I'm only rooting for Anoop Desai. Details later.

After watching the 3 Group and the Wildcard performance nights, I have new faves and I believe they deserve to make it to at least Final 5.

Everyone who can vote, please vote for the following contestants, most especially for Anoop Desai and Kris Allen!

Although I still liked Michael Sarver during Group 1 performance night, I don't understand why Anoop Desai didn't make it first to the Final 12 before Sarver did. Anoop's rendition of a personal fave, "Angel of Mine", was really sweet. Sarver had a good voice but his song choice was ridiculous, in a bad way.

Anyway, Anoop seems to be the fan fave this season of American Idol. I am really rooting for him. Mai adores him. And Anoop's performance of "My Prerogative" proved that he deserves to be in the Finals - not 'coz of his vocals but 'coz he's got the charisma, star quality and performer in him!

Why the hell did they make him go through all that emotional ride of thinking he didn't make it to the Wildcard and the Final err 13?! Hmmm... well, I loved Anoop's reaction both times, especially during Wildcard night. I also found an article on TV Guide through Anoop's fansite, AnoopDog.com. They interviewed Anoop and he told them that the American Idol producers, Simon and the rest of the judges apologized to him after that show for "putting him through the emotional roller-coaster ride". Hah! Yeah, they did. But Anoop's reaction was so cute! He's so adorable and I really hope he makes it to the finale! Can't wait to see his performance next week!

It was a surprise that Kris Allen made it to the Final 13 during the first round of performances. It wasn't because he doesn't have the talent to make it but 'coz he got the least amount of exposure compared to the rest of the Final 13. I'm so glad he made it 'coz his rendition of Michael Jackson's "Man in the Mirror" was amazing! I realized that night that I used to love that song. And you can hear Kris' sincerity and all the emotions needed to really sing that song. Gosh.

Among all the 13 finalists, Kris Allen needs the vote the most. I believe that his lack of exposure during the auditions and Hollywood week can cost him the competition. I hope he'll do very well and choose his songs wisely so he can make it to the finale. I love him!

Allison Iraheta is the only talented teen contestant this year... for REAL. She has this ridiculously strong, powerful and husky voice that I envy and love! My gosh.

I remembered Amanda Overmyer from last season - the rocker with that black and blonde highlights. She was boring. I was rooting for her at first but when she kept on doing the same kind of songs and giving the same kind of performance week after week, I started to hate her. Amanda has a cool personality, unlike Allison. So, I guess that means Allison will be a better performer than Amanda. Hehehe. Ironic huh. But, really, I don't like Allison's personality. Simon and I were thinking the same thing - she was corny and boring when Ryan Seacrest was interviewing her but when she started performing, WOW!

I really hope Allison Iraheta goes far this season. She's a very promising kid, with real natural talent.

Megan Joy reminds me of Brooke White of American Idol Season 7 - y'know, innocent but has a good voice and sings her heart out. I love her corkiness and you can really see she's genuine. Alright, she's not the best vocalist this season but I love her. I just hope she makes it to at least Top 7.

Lil Rounds has the most powerful voice this season. I just hope she won't be another Melinda Doolittle (from Season 6). Lil has to work on her personality and choose songs that'll make people remember her as Lil, not another Mary J Blige copycat. I'm also rooting for her so I hope she chooses her songs well.

Alexis Grace, another one who surprised me. I didn't recognize her with that new "dirty" look. And when they played back her audition during their group's performance, I remembered liking her audition. The way she performed her song during the group performances was really heart-felt. I hope she gets more people to vote for her and she goes far, too. She's one of the females that I can see going far this season.

Matt Giraud - my first impression of him was he's cocky but good. And I was amazed by his Hollywood performances but he disappointed me during the group performances. I'm glad he was given a second chance during the Wildcard round and he was able to show off his talents. Another guy I'm rooting for this season and can't wait to see him perform this week.

Those are the only 7 out of the 13 people I'm rooting for this Season 8 of American Idol. Only Anoop was from my original faves 'coz he's pretty consistent. I hope people will realize that as well.

For the rest of the 13 finalists, here's my take on them:

Danny Gokey
Okay, he's been through a lot after his wife passed away but do you really have to say that on every interview or everytime you're in front of the camera? Drop the act. Scott is almost blind but I don't see him, pardon the pun, going off talking about his blindness every damn time. He and his family, even his friend who didn't make it, seem to be using the circumstances to get sympathy votes.

When I first saw Danny Gokey during the auditions, I thought he's got the David Cook vibe in him and I started liking him. But, damn, he took it literally! He's just a plain copycat, with that arrangement of Mariah Carey's "Hero". Really, can't you tell he's just TRYING SO HARD?! Okay, he's got the voice but, damn, enough of that my-wife-passed-away-and-I'm-devastated-but-I-survived drama and I'm-the-next-David-Cook stilt 'coz it's really irritating. He's not GENUINE at all and I hope America sees that. He'll have a career anyway so just get rid of him ASAP.

Jasmine Murray
Aww, c'mon! Damn, why did she make it?!? I would've preferred Tatianna in the finals over her! Sheesh. She's cute, alright, but is this a teen beauty pageant?! It's just a waste of time to watch her. Jesse Langseth, Tatianna and Felicia Barton could've given more worth to that Final 13 spot than Jasmine. Her talent is way too raw for this competition. I hope Jasmine is eliminated ASAP.

Michael Sarver
What the... I lost all my interest in him. What was he thinking?!? I genuinely loved him before his group's performance night. Damn. Wrong song choice? I don't know. He just showed that he doesn't have the star quality to really make it in the music business. But, unlike Danny Gokey, I'm not closing my doors for Michael. I'm still hoping he'll blow me away by his future performances. In the vernacular, SAYANG!

Scott Macintyre
Okay, he's gone through a lot because of his handicap. And I actually like him because of how he survived and how he seems so happy with his life, unlike most of us who weren't born with a handicap. I find Scott cute and very lovable. But, this is a singing competition and, let's admit it, he doesn't have a good voice. He's just okay.
And I think it's going to be unfair for the rest of the contestants because I know Scott will get a lot of sympathy votes just 'coz of his life story. Even I will give him a vote but I still think it's not fair. But I'm glad he was able to show off his talents. I just believe there are more talented people who should've been in the finals over him.

Adam Lambert
I actually like him, except for the yelling. Alright, you've got the range but show us your control. This ain't theatre anymore. Anyway, all that talk about him being gay is really funny. So fucking what?! He's talented so who cares if he's gay, bisexual or straight? Stop the prejudice.

Jorge Nuñez
I also like him. I find it difficult to understand him, though, because of his thick accent. But, hey, I love his voice and you can really feel the sincerity and emotions whenever he sings. He's lovable so I see him going far this season.

That's the Final 13 of American Idol Season 8. Who are you rooting for?!?

Me and Mai were rooting for Taylor Vaifanua, Ann Marie Boskovich and Arianna Afsar before the group performances. Damn, they were huge disappointments! Wrong song choice, mediocre performance. Tsk tsk. Too bad they can't try out in the future seasons anymore. And these contestants never learn.

I'm thinking that another guy will win this season. Mai's going to kill me for saying this but I really hope Allison can make it to at least Final 3.

My Final 3: Anoop Desai, Kris Allen and Allison Iraheta

I hope I'm right.
