Idea for a Valentine's Gift

Valentine's day is coming up, but that's not only event that my partner Mai and I would be celebrating. February 15th would mark our 53rd month together. Yes, we've been together for 4 years and almost 5 months. Plus, she'll be celebrating her 27th birthday in March so coming up with a gift for her is on the top of my list.

I'm not really good with gift ideas because I have this fear that the recipient might not like my gift. That's why I usually just end up with nothing or a card. LOL. I know, I know. I'm a lousy gift giver. And this 2010, I want to change that. Seriously.

I've been thinking about what gift to give Mai for Valentine's day, our 53rd monthsary (yes, we celebrate monthsaries) and her upcoming birthday. I don't want to give her a new shirt because she's got too many of them already... and it's too ordinary. I don't want to give her any more toy or gadget because the last time I did that, she lost interest after a month or so. Hmmm...

SeikoKineticWatch Come to think of it, Mai loves watches so I might actually consider buying her a new one. She's got 4 of them that she uses alternatively, depending on where we're going or what the occasion. She doesn't like women watches because, well, she's not the girly type of woman. She actually prefers men perfumes and watches.

I remember when we went out last week, we were checking out watches at SM North Edsa. We had no intentions of buying anything, but I was already thinking about what to buy her. I saw Seiko Kinetic watches displayed at the counter and thought that maybe, she'd like that. I particularly liked one of the designs, pictured on the right.

Now, my problem is how can I buy her a gift without her knowing it when we're ALWAYS together? I can't ask my brother to do it because he might pick something else that I'd hate. Hah! Need to come up with an excuse to keep her from accompanying me when I go out to buy a gift for her. But, HOW?!?! Any ideas?!

  1. You crazy kids count months. I like the watch quite a bit and would love a new one for Valentines Day.

  2. I'm no longer a kid, but thank you for thinking I was still young. LOL. I'm turning 30 this year, btw.

Anyway, we count the months because we love the thought of doing something special together every month. I believe that it really helps the relationship.

    And, yeah, love the watch.
