American Idol performances the past week was a million times better than the first live show. I was surprised by some of them, and some were still disappointing. I'm pretty happy with who got eliminated last week. I feel that 4 of the weaker contestants got rightfully booted just in time.
Now, if you're wondering why I entitled this post "Revenge of the Lamberts", it's because Alex Lambert has been surprisingly doing well in the competition. He's so adorable and I love that he's a bit naive. I love his voice. I agree, he's got a very good recording voice. I hope he goes far this season. If he does improve his performance, he's actually got a chance to win. That's why it's the revenge of the Lamberts, since Adam didn't win last season when he was the one truly deserving. Below is a video of his performance, singing "Everybody Knows".
Also, last week, we said goodbye to John Park, Jermaine Sellers (finally!), Michelle Delamor (we're going to miss seeing her sister on TV, lol), Haeley Vaughn (good riddance).
The first week of performances, I was disappointed and bored by American Idol Season 9 contestants, especially the girls. I'm glad they did their best to make up for it last week. But, still, the men were better. So, I disagree with Simon when he said that this year, a girl will win. They haven't impressed me as much as the men. Wait, maybe Siobhan Magnus of the women can win this season. I absolutely love her! Her performance last week, singing an Aretha Franklin hit song "Think", was just amazing! I love her strange self. And the way she sang it, she was all out, no inhibitions. She doesn't care about what others think or how she looks on TV, as long as she sings her heart out. I'm truly rooting for her. I hope that the voters would really notice her amazing talent and her quirky personality. Can't wait to see her performance this week. I hope she makes it to the finale.
I just want to talk about a few of the performances this week. Mai and I had some issue watching the men perform because our computer speakers were acting up. I wish we could get one of those entertainment centers that we saw at SM last week. It'll help us enjoy watching American Idol more. But, for now, I guess we'd have to be contented with our computer speakers.
Anyway, there was a last minute switch and the men agreed to perform first because Crystal Bowersox was sick and was advised by the doctor not to stress herself. I'm glad that didn't affect how well the guys performed.
So, I want to talk about the ones who got booted out. First off, John Park. I like him but his voice isn't good enough for the competition. Plus, he can't emote that well to help him connect with the audience and viewers at home. And his performance last week was boring, singing John Mayer's "Gravity". I would've loved to see Tim Urban first before John, though. I guess Tim's looks got him through another week. He is Vote For The Worst bet for the men. I hope Tim gets eliminated this week 'coz I can't stand him. I agree with Ellen, he's better suited for other things like maybe as a cast of Glee. Would love to see him there 'coz, I admit, he's a hunk.
*sigh* I miss Joe Munoz.
The other guy who got voted out was Jermaine Sellers. I hate him. And I'm not exaggerating. I do hate him. He's a hypocrite, talking about his background as a church singer and God-fearing person, but he threw the band under the bus during Hollywood week, blaming them for his . I hate self-righteous people and those Catholics or Christians who talk like they're closer to God because they're very religious or are active in church, but they go around mistreating others. I HATE THEM. That's why I SOOO hate Jermaine Sellers. I'm so happy he's gone.
This coming week, I'd love to see Casey James go. He's just great to look at, but he's not a winner for me. He usually gives a *hohum* performance. I think people vote for him because of his looks and his story of being poor.
Todrick Hall was one of my early favorites, but now he's starting to really irritate me. He's trying too much. Way too much to be "original" that he ruins the feel of the songs he performs. I hope he gets back to his feet this week. I hope he'll just sing, without changing the arrangement, next time.
Andrew Garcia was amazing last week! The judges weren't psyched, but I was. I love his voice. It's like I'm listening to him on the radio and bopping my head along with him. I guess there's a price to pay if you made a mark early in the competition, like Andrew singing and rearranging Paula Abdul's song "Straight Up". The judges are hard on him because they expect more because he has shown he's a great artist. I hope the judges start getting it straight because Andrew's amazing and I don't understand why they hate his performance.
And, for the first time this season, I loved Lee Dewyze! Now, I understand why Simon loves him. He's a true rocker. Gosh. I got a lot of faves from the group of male contestants this year. Woot!
Now, over to the women. *hohum* I'm pretty happy Haeley Vaughn got kicked out. She was irritating. I meant her voice. I like that she's a very jolly person, and all the contestants seem to really love her 'coz they were all saddened by her elimination. But, she's not good enough. Her style may be original, but her voice isn't at the level as the rest of the female contestants.
Simon kept on saying that Crystal Bowersox did an amazing job. I liked her during Hollywood week, but so far, she's not been doing great for me. I love her voice, reminds me of Kelly Clarkson, that yelling style, but I haven't been amazed by her performance yet.
I don't really have anything else good to say about the female contestants, except for Siobhan Magnus, who I absolutely love. Michelle Delamor getting booted was also predictable because her performance and voice weren't at par with the rest of her fellow contestants. Mai was kinda upset because she won't be seeing Michelle's sister anymore. LOL.
Lilly Scott did great, but I don't completely love her style or genre. She's a true artist, though, and I'm expecting her to do well this season.
This week, I hope Siobhan and Didi (who needs to really step it up, dammit!) would continue on to next week. They're the only 2 gurls I'm rooting for.
How about you? Who did you like last week and who do you think will get eliminated this week?
