A Gift for a Job Well Done

Last month, February, we found out that my brother, Kenneth, passed the Nursing Licensure Exam (NLE) that he took last November 2009. He actually aced it, but he didn't make it to the Top 10. His score was a whooping 83.6%, which means he's in the Top 20. Well, they don't really announce who the Top 11 to 20 are, but still, it was a huge deal for us.

After sleepless nights of studying 'til the wee hours of the morning, he passed with flying colors. He was so stressed before the exam that he became so sensitive when talking about it, the possible results, and his future as a Registered Nurse (RN). Our nanay's playful banter even resulted to him crying. That's how sensitive he was back then. It's funny now that I remember it 'cause he loves to bully people. Well, not physically, but, like me, he loves teasing people with his sarcasm. I guess some people who wanted to avenge themselves against him found it to be the perfect time to tease him 'coz he was so damn sensitive that he'll easily break down.image Good thing I was here with him and my family 'cause I was able to help him patch things with my Nanay and I also defended him against people who tease him that he'll not pass on Facebook. I also tried my best to calm him down. I hope I did help him through it all.

Anyway, the point of this blog post is that I wanted to reward my brother with something for all his hard work and being on top of the November 2009 NLE board passers. I've been thinking of perfect gifts for him but I'm not really good with coming up with gifts for people. So, I usually just end up fishing for ideas from them directly. LOL.

And, after my attempts to get him to talk, I found out he wanted a Macbook and a new watch. I can't really afford a Macbook so I'll be buying him a new watch instead. I was eyeing for one of the Seiko Automatic Watches I saw at one of the jewelry stores at Trinoma. I wanted to buy him something stylish that will suit him in his Nurse uniform and scrub suit when he starts working. He loves orange so the watch shown on the right would be perfect for him.

I'm so proud of what my brother has achieved. I hope he gets the experience he needs to fulfill his dream of working abroad. He wanted to work in a cruise ship so he can practice as an RN and travel the world at the same time.

  1. I have one of those watches. It's nice they don't have batteries but if you don't wear them every day you have to reset them all the time. If you wear it every day it's great.

  2. Aw thanks for sharing. I didn't know that was the case. My partner used to have the same issues with her watch so she stopped wearing it. I'll let her know about it. The watch repairman didn't tell us that.
