I've mentioned a couple of posts ago about a friend of mine who was moving back here in Manila from Leyte. Well, actually, he's living now in Antipolo, but, I'm just glad he's here in Luzon, safe and sound.
He told me about all the expenses of moving from Visayas to Luzon. It cost him over Php 50,000 (about $1,000) because he needed a bigger truck this time for all the furniture he built himself when they were in Leyte. I'm just glad the move was to and from different cities in the Philippines. Imagine how much it would've cost him if he needed help from cross country movers. He hasn't received his backpay yet so he was just using savings, which he initially intended to use for something else. *Sigh*
I also have a cousin in the US who had to move from Florida to Virginia. They didn't know they would need to move, but, because of the recession, she had to find a new job in Virginia, somewhere closer to her mom, my aunt. The move went okay. She searched for assistance within Florida. There were Tampa movers, but she thankfully found a friend who was willing to let her rent their big truck for the move. She did save a lot of money because of that.
I remember when we sold our home in Navotas. It was really painful to leave our home there, but, we had to. I lived there for 25 years, my Nanay, 49 years. I can imagine how hard it was for her that we had to resort to selling our home, which was handed over to her by her parents. *Sigh* I still miss our old home because it sits right across the market. It was easy to shop for groceries. I also had a LOT of memories there. Really fun memories with my family and my friends. And, we owned 5 commercial spaces back then.

The area is really great for business. But, we felt that we had to leave because of all the negative things that started to happen to our family the last few years we lived there. Like it was a sign we had to move as soon as possible.
Originally, we were supposed to move to Bulacan. But, we were tricked by the engineer and the real estate company we were dealing with, so we decided to cancel that. They got away with around Php 50,000 from us. It would've been more if we didn't complain and argue with the engineer and their company. We didn't pursue with our complaints 'cause we had limited budget for the construction of our home. So, we had to just take how much money they can return to us and move again to Malabon.
It was partly my fault because I insisted on living there instead of moving here to Malabon. *sigh* Looking back is painful 'cause I know I caused that mess. I'm just glad we're happy now here in our home in Malabon. And we're glad we got discounts from the mover who helped us move from Navotas to Bulacan, and Bulacan to Malabon.

Aren't we glad there are movers out there who help make the moving part convenient for us? I hope there'll be more of them here in the Philippines, like the Chicago moving companies, so we'd have more options. From our experience, I believe that the actual move shouldn't be an additional burden to all the pains of leaving the home you've lived in and loved for many years. I'm just glad we were given a fresh start 5 years ago here in Malabon. I feel much better now.
