First Yahoo! OMG! Philippines Awards Winners

Imagine how excited I was when I got an invite to rub elbows with celebrities in the local showbiz scene at the first Yahoo! OMG! Philippines awards night. It’s the purple (yes, Yahoo!’s color) carpet event where the most-searched celebrities are recognized.

A brief background on Yahoo! OMG!: The awards are based on combined Yahoo! Search and rich news contents from their celebrity and entertainment news site, OMG!, to recognize the top trending internet celebrities and those who have heightened their stardom by reaching out to their fans through the web.

There were 72 nominees in 18 categories and last June 21st, the Yahoo! OMG! Philippines Awards winners were revealed at a fantabulous party at Republiq Bar in Resorts World Manila.

Here are the winners:

Hottest Actor: Piolo Pascual Dang! I tell yah, he’s really HOT! We didn’t get a chance to take photos with him ‘cause he was in and out in a flash. This photo was taken by Myke when Piolo received the Clear Man Award.

Hottest Actress: Jennylyn Mercado

Funniest Comedian: Vice Ganda We wanted to take photos with her, but she seemed to be in a hurry. Next time, Vice! :D

Funniest Comedienne: Eugene Domingo So funny, especially when she told us a story about her horoscope saying there’ll be something amazing that’ll happen to her very soon. She was like, “Eto na yun?!” (This is it?!). :D

Breakthrough Artist, Male: Coco Martin
We were hoping and praying he’d be there. *sigh*

Breakthrough Artist, Female: Cristine Reyes I LOVE what she was wearing. Wish she’d wear less makeup though ‘cause she’s already pretty.

Awesome Young Actor: Albie Casino

Awesome Young Actress: Kathryn Bernardo Of the Mara Clara fame. I love her! :)

Favorite TV Host, Male: Luis Manzano
Favorite TV Host, Female: Toni Gonzaga
They were both not present. Was hoping to see Toni face-to-face!

Amazing Newcomer, Male: Alden Richards

There were performances from Callalily, Someday Dream and Johnhoy Danao.

The first Yahoo! OMG! Philippines Awards night was hosted by JM Rodriguez and Andi Manzano of Magic 89.9.

Among the presenters were Jim Paredes, Carmi Martin, Vicky Belo, Angelu de Leon, Rico Blanco, and Jojo Alejar, who showed off his Michael Jackson-inspired dance moves (photo from Starmometer).

Most of the celebrities I voted for bagged the awards so I was pretty happy. Indeed, it was a truly fun-filled night, especially because I was surrounded by all these beautiful people, including my fellow bloggers. :)
