I used to be a fashionista back in my early years in college. I guess I was trying to make up for lost time. I had really poor fashion sense back when I was in grade school and up to high school. My mother would usually buy me women's tops and pants from Divisoria or at the mall. She didn't know better back then as well so I end up with really unflattering clothes at the craziest patterns of colors, too. Argh. Just remembering those times makes me sick. *LOL* Even my mother laughs at her fashion choices during those years.
After graduating in high school, I became more free with what I wanted to wear because I was studying at UP Diliman so we didn't have a uniform. My mother would usually just bring me along to shop. So, I got to pick what I really wanted to wear. I wasn't really keen with the latest fashion trends, but at least I already know what clothes can make me look better and will show off my curves.
When I started working, I gotten to shop more freely because I was buying my clothes and accessories using my own money. That's when I started to experiment with clothes. There was even one time that my father asked me if I was seriously wearing this black top (it was a really fit top with a bit of a plunging neckline) to work. He had me change to something more decent even after I explained I'll be wearing a jacket on top of it when I get to the office . *LOL* So, it became one of my party clothes instead.
When I started gaining weight, it was a bit harder for me to shop. Not because I can't find clothes that'll fit me, but more because I don't like seeing those big clothes. Yeah, there was a moment in my life that I hated that I had to wear plus sized clothing for women. I was a bit insecure 'cause it was the first time in my life to be as heavy as I was. Well, I'm still struggling with my weight, but now, I feel much better about myself because I have started to be healthier and I guess I already gained confidence and became comfortable with my own skin. Still, I need to lose all the weight I gained in the past years.
Though I don't see myself getting into the hottest fashion trends anytime soon, I still want to continue looking good for myself that's why I started a couple of habits to prettify myself. Only one thing won't change - expect lots of black in my future wardrobe. ^_^
