Music produces a kind of pleasure which human
nature cannot do without.

Ever since I was kid, I've been a music lover. I remember singing along to my own copy of Menudo's album back in the 80s, dancing along Paula Abdul's music, and falling in love with the Eraserheads' songs in the 90s. Yeah, that's how broad the range of music I enjoy.
Music has been a constant part of my life. I remember back in high school, I can't study without music playing in the background. It helps me relax and, for some reason, got me to focus on studying.
There are a ton of songs that I so love to listen to. Some, I listen to when I'm feeling lonely or sad. There are also some uplifting and loud music when I'm upset or stressed. Then, there are also songs I just love singing and dancing along to. Music can really pick you up when you're down and boost your morale.
Everyone in my family is a music lover. I used to hate my dad playing all those really old songs, and then I ended up loving them after hearing them nonstop for a week. My mother loves dancing along really upbeat music and she's got a sweet voice, too. My brother also loves music and he's got the best vocals in our family. He plays the guitar and keyboards/piano.
I used to jam and sing with my friends who have their own band back in college. All of my close friends now also are into music and we enjoy videoke-singing when we get together. I think I don't know anyone who don't love music. Do you?
I've got a long list of favorite songs, but I wanted to share these 3 songs that I'm listening to multiple times everyday nowadays.
I super love this version of Firework by Lea Michele who plays Rachel Berry on the very popular musical TV series Glee. I love how Lea sings her heart out in this song. I love the added drama brought about by her going out of those doors with exit signs when she performs on their school scenes. Anyway, though I love Katy Perry's version, I feel Lea's voice suited the song more. Anyway, I love them both.
I love the lyrics to this song, too. It can really uplift you, especially when you're feeling disappointed with yourself. I love these lines of the song:
Do you know that there's still a chance for you
'Cause there's a spark in you…You just gotta ignite, the light, and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July'Cause baby you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
I fell in love with this song when I saw Thia Megia perform it in her audition for American Idol. When I read the lyrics, it kinda hit me right here ♥. ^_^
Should I give up,
Or should I just keep chasin' pavements?
Even if it leads nowhere
Or would it be a waste
Even if I knew my place
Should I leave it there
Should I give up,
Or should I just keep chasin' pavements
Even if it leads nowhere
This song by India Arie has been my favorite ever since I heard it on the Tyra Banks show. Another inspiring song (can you tell what mood I've been in lately? ^_^). Here's part of the lyrics:
Just for today
I will not worry what tomorrow will bring
No No.
I'm gonna try something new
Gonna walk through this day
Like I've got nothing to prove
Yeah-ee (yeah)
Although (yeah) I have the best intentions (yeah)
Can't predict anyones reaction (yeah)
So I'll just do my best (yeah)
I'll put (yeah) one foot in front of the other (yeah)
Keep on moving forward (yeah)
And let god do the rest (hey)I don't know what's gonna happen
That's alright with me
I open up my arms and I embrace the mystery
I don't know what's gonna happen
That's alright with me
I open up my arms and I embrace the mystery
So, you see, most of my favorite songs have these lyrics that really speak to me. But, I'm no hater. I even enjoy Justin Bieber's voice, especially after I watched him on Oprah. *LoL* Not sure about his songs, though. ^_^
How about you? What songs have you been listening to lately?!
