Congratulations to the December 2010 NLEX Board Passers!

The December 2010 Nursing Licensure Exam results has been released and a friend of ours is among this new roster of licensed nurses:

 Congratulations, Drew!!

I know how much you and everyone who took the exam put into studying and preparing for this board exam - physically, mentally and emotionally. I saw how the exam took a toll on my brother.  For some, the stress worked better than weight loss pills. But, for others, like my brother, well, it was the other way around. I'm just so happy you all got through it with flying colors! ^_^

There are 29,711 NLEX passers out of 84,287 this year. And, honestly, after seeing what my brother and his fellow board passers went through after their exam results were released, I'm not that excited for all of them. With the recession happening all over the world, where would these new licensed nurses find work?! *sigh*

Most of these nursing students only took that course because they believed that it can help them in their dreams of working abroad. There's nothing wrong with that. But, in reality, if you don't have the money, the courage and determination to actually push yourself to make it, you'd end up working for a call center or some other field not completely related to nursing. Not that those other jobs aren't good enough. But, considering all the hard work you need to put in to finish Nursing (trust me and all these nursing graduates, it's not that easy), I just find it really upsetting to see them not practicing in their chosen field.

Alright, I'm not trying to be this negative energy over the success of those who passed the board exams. But, I'm just a li'l saddened that we've got another 29,000+ licensed nurses joining the thousands of unemployed here in the Philippines. I just wish they'd all find a job. *sigh*

I wish all those who passed the exams really want to be a nurse. Not just because they think it's their chance to work abroad. And I'm praying there'll be more job opportunities to open up for everyone who already made it to the list of December 2010 NLEX passers. Good luck to you all.
