Since I’m already on my way to hopefully succeeding in reaching my goal of 150 lbs (or lighter) by the end of this year, I thought it’s about time I also engage myself into sports or something a bit more adventurous than what I’d usually go for. So, I decided that the first item on my bucket list that’s related to anything sporty is running in a marathon, and hopefully finish one, too.
I’ve seen a lot of my fellow bloggers and friends running marathons or joining fun runs sponsored by different companies and supporting various advocacies. A friend of mine even invited me to join them, but I know I’m not ready yet to run in a marathon. Not just physically, but mentally as well.
As soon as I’ve hired someone to help me here at my computer shop, I will do my best to spend more time exercising, possibly go to the gym or seriously work out at home. I’m also planning on playing badminton with my brother and friends ‘cause it really helped with my stamina back when we used to play like years ago.
Since I’m cheating (*boohoo*), I need to completely get that nasty habit off my system so I can breathe better in preparation for me running in a marathon.
I’ve recently followed Takbo.ph and I’ve been reading some tips from other runners as to how I should prepare for it. I’m serious about this. I never really jogged before or ran, except this one time when a classmate of mine in UP Diliman forced me to join him for a quick jog. We ended up jogging around the campus for over an hour. I didn’t notice ‘til I felt my legs weaken when we decided to stop. *LOL*
Not sure how those runners who finish the 3k and up marathons do it. Do they read like some pink magic review online or ways to build muscles and increase their stamina to finish? I mean, I remember our hike up Kabigan Falls when we were in Pagudpud. It was only a 1.25km hike. It took us almost an hour to reach the falls and go back. I remember waking up the next day almost not feeling my legs. *LOL* But, it was fun so it was all worth it. I was even surprised that I got to and from the falls without fainting. Hehehehe. I didn’t get close enough, but I was just a few feet (c’mon, give me a break!) away from it, close enough to take a photo of my bro.
Anyway, I’m truly serious about this. So, hopefully, I get to fulfill this bucket list item in the first quarter of 2012. Wish me luck!
