A Family Business - Soon!

It's been over two months since my brother Kenneth flew to Singapore for "greener pasture". A lot has happened to him, emotionally and mentally. He's had a lot of realizations. It was the first time he was away from us, especially from our mother. It was his first time to be independent. He forced himself to be independent. And during that time away from us, he discovered what he really wanted to do. Or at least we think he finally did.

Tomorrow, he'll be flying back to Manila. He's coming home. As much as I'd want to share more details about it, I'd rather let him do it on his blog. But, one thing's for sure - we want to start our own food business soon.

If you've been following my posts here or on our food blog, Certified Foodies, you probably already know that my brother is skilled when it comes to cooking and baking. I'm also into cooking myself, my mother's the best cook ever (love your own), so it's just logical that our next business is a small restaurant or a food joint.

My nanay - the best cook ever!! - JustAnotherPixel.net

We actually had experience opening a food joint back at our home in Navotas. We used to have this panciteria where we cook and sell all kinds of pancit. My grandma Itang is known for her Pancit Luglog so we get customers coming in from nearby provinces to try her recipe.

And that's exactly what I want our family to have - a small restaurant where foodies come in to try our specialties. My mother can manage all the technicalities of owning our business since she's got a lot of experience. She also knows a lot as to where we can get affordable restaurant equipment, basically everything we need to put up a small restaurant. My brother would focus on pastry but will help me with main dishes. We might take some culinary courses to be more prepared. We know we can do it. It may not happen yet this year, but I'm determined to make this happen for my whole family.

By the way, if you are looking for restaurant equipment and supply, you might want to check out TigerChef.com. Tiger Chef is the leading online source for kitchen equipment you can use commercially such as for your restaurant or cafes. If you visit their website, you'd find commercial restaurant equipment including restaurant furniture, bar equipment, cooking equipment and a lot more. They even have equipment if you're planning on opening a catering business. I'm actually browsing their website to check out what kitchen equipment and/or tools we'll be needing for the small restaurant we're planning on opening. Can you tell I'm excited?
