Weight Loss Progress Report #1

I felt that it's about time for another progress report on my weight loss. But, this time, I'm making this official. I want to publish a progress report monthly or every two months. That way, I can look back at these posts and read about how I was feeling back then, starting from this report #1. Plus, I'm hoping to let you in on what I've been doing to lose the weight.

A lot has happened in the past weeks and months while I was moving along my game plan of losing weight and reaching my goal of 150 lbs by the end of this year (check bucket list #2).

Yes, I did fall off the wagon a couple of times. I said no more sweets, but I had cake and softdrinks last week. The other night, I finished off my last A&W Rootbeer. I also had like 2 cups of rice a week ago when my blogger friends Eihdra and Joy came over (will post about that next). Okay, did I say just a couple of times? *LOL* But, I'm back on track.

What have I been doing the past weeks/months? Here are a few things that I honestly have been practicing lately:

  • Half cup of rice for lunch, no rice for dinner. I still can't get rice off my diet. I tried, but I found myself wanting to eat snacks more. So, the only way I could keep off the bad habit of snacking too much, I stuck with half cup of rice every lunch. My technique is to eat really slowly. And by the time I'm done with my serving of rice, I'm already really full.
For dinner, I usually just prepare a sandwich or drink cereal/oatmeal drinks. Then, I drink tea after.

  • Drinking tea in the morning/afternoon and after dinner.
No, I'm not drinking any special kind of tea. Only Lipton's Green Tea and Brisk Tea. I wasn't into tea before, but I saw the slimming effects on my parents, especially my dad. So, I tried it. Now, I can't get enough of tea. *LOL*
I drink tea after lunch. I only have one teabag in the morning/afternoon. After I'm done with a cup, I refill it with hot water. So, one teabag = 2 cups of tea for me. Then, by dinner time, I drink another 2 cups. Don't do the last part if you can't sleep with caffeine from tea.
Drinking tea is helping me suppress my appetite too. I'm not craving for snacks in between lunch and dinner, unlike before. I also feel better, lighter. Plus, the benefits of drinking tea is simply priceless - I feel my metabolism is improving, better BM, I'm not as stressed as before, and I know it can help lower your cholesterol levels.

  • 15-30 minute workouts every other day.
Yes, I know, I'm supposed to exercise every day. But, I've been really feeling lazy these past weeks so I'm usually just doing 5-minute workouts everyday. I'm hoping this will improve since I'm focusing on burning those tummy fats. Then, I'll focus on my hips and legs. Still planning on buying that elliptical soon.

  • No to sweets. Yes to fruits.
I'm avoiding eating sweets and drinking soda or juices. When I'm feeling like eating snacks, I go for bananas instead. But, yeah, I'm not perfect. There were days this past week when I had chocolate and butter cookies for dinner. Waaahh! *LOL*
I still believe I shouldn't deprive myself of "sinful" food. So, I keep a bar of dark chocolate with me and I enjoy a small piece every 2 days.

The Progress

Alright, I'm not yet comfortable with revealing my weight, vital stats and all that here. I'm also not ready yet to show you full-on body before and after photos. Not yet. BUT, I'm going to give you details on how much weight I've already lost.

Weight Lost since December 2010 up to March 2011:

26 pounds

I initially thought I lost 30+ pounds, but I miscalculated. And I'm supposed to be good at Math, eh? *LOL* But, still, that's a LOT of weight lost for 4 months. I'm only counting from the first week of December 'cause that was when I took losing weight seriously and started with my low carb diet.

Now, let me show you how I looked years ago when I was tens of pounds lighter:

I don't have that much body photos, you see. Even when I was at my ideal weight, I didn't like getting photographed from the tummy up. *LOL* I'm more comfortable with that now.

Anyway, my goal is to look like the first photo on the second row, when I was still working at ePLDT.

Now, here are photos of me taken the past 3 years:

First photo taken in October 2008; the second photo on the first row in October 2009. Then, on the second row, first photo was in December 2009; second was last year, August 2010, during Max's event.

Now, here are my most recent photos:

First row photos were taken last month, February 2011. Second row photos taken just this month. A few pounds lighter, and I look happier, eh?

I know, still no body shots, eh? Hahahaha. Well, let me tell you these…

  • People who haven't seen me in months were telling me that I lost a lot of weight. They're more reliable than my family 'cause they haven't seen me for a long time. *LOL*

Me with my nanay and our relatives at my niece's 18th birthday in February - JustAnotherPixel.net
Take for instance last month, February, when I attended my niece's 18th birthday (*ulk* I'm old! See photo above), 2 of our relatives couldn't help but approach me to tell me they're so glad to see me losing weight. One of them who I haven't had a chance to chat with EVER even spent time congratulating me. He even told me that when he first saw me a year ago (during our family reunion in January 2010), he was shocked and wanted to tell me I should lose weight FAST. How I looked back then was depressing, he said. My normal reaction would've been, "How dare you!!", but I was actually positively surprised.  He even said he thinks I lost 30-40 pounds! Wow! He kept on asking me what I've been doing, like did I ever take weight loss pills such as Adapexin-p, am I going to the gym, etc. And I just told him about my low-carb diet and tea-drinking.

That conversation made me so happy. I mean, he had nothing to gain from complimenting me or talking about my weight loss. We never even had a conversation before so I know that he was completely surprised by how much I changed physically to approach me like that. Woohoo for me then, eh?

  • I can no longer wear my pants from a few months back. They're too loose for me now that I can LITERALLY undress without unbuttoning or unzipping those pants. Plus, my shorts, pajamas and jogging pants that were too fit on me back then now need to be adjusted at the waist. That's why by next month, I need to go shopping for new clothes! Woot!

That's it so far. I need to buy a new weighing scale (the one we're using was misplaced during a general cleaning weeks ago) so I can closely monitor how many pounds I'm losing. My calculation of my weight lost was from the last time I weighed in last year in November 'til my checkup last month. I don't want to get obsessed by the numbers so now, I'm depending on my clothes and photos to see my progress. *LOL*

That's it for my weight loss progress report #1. Keep posted for the next one. Woohoo! I really hope to reach my goal of 150 lbs. by December. Wish me continuous luck! :)
