How to Take Pictures of Wedding Bands

Have you ever tried to take a picture of a wedding band? It seems like it should be so simple but it ends up being very difficult. Most wedding bands have a mirror finish. This makes it very tricky to take a good picture of it. I recently found a good article for taking good pictures of wedding bands -  http://www.frankdoorhof.com/site/?p=2568. If you look at this article you will see that there are different types of rings they took a picture of. I really like the palladium rings. I have never heard of palladium being used in jewelry but it seems like a very practical application for it. They also took some nice pictures of tungsten ring sets. I have heard of tungsten rings and the pictures turned out real nice.

They also had the task to make sure each metal could be noticeably different than the others. This is quite difficult when the metals look so much alike. Platinum and palladium are so hard to tell apart. If you hold them in your hand you can tell the difference but just looking at them they don’t look like they are different. There is also a new metal called cobalt chrome. Cobalt chrome wedding bands look very similar to platinum and palladium. So the task to take pictures of them and have them look different so the customer could tell was a difficult task. A photobox was required. It makes it so there is always the same amount of light for each picture. Consistency is key when taking pictures of jewelry. There needs to be a set up that will be the exact same for each ring. Then the pictures will look so much better on the website. This is so important because all you have is a picture to sell the product. If someone see a bad picture they will not buy your product.
